Boundary Peg Location - for fencing and building
Over time, pegs can become obscured or removed. Sometimes you can measure from adjacent boundaries, scrape away the soil and find them. If not, we use a metal locator to find adjacent secure reference marks from which we accurately replace your boundary pegs.
When fencing or building near a boundary you must protect yourself by first finding out exactly where your boundary is. This will avoid disputes and costly removal of structures.
Ask about our New 'Fast Pegs by GPS' Service
This enables instant set out of peg positions or gathering field data. If speed and economy are important call us now!To request more information on this service, please use our enquiry form.
Protection of Survey Marks - offsetting
Local Authorities and Contractors are bound by legislation to make certain that existing survey marks are protected or replaced during construction of roading and services.
We provide an efficient service, locating those marks at risk. This is done by studying the relevant plans and locating endangered marks by GPS survey.
Following this we can either confirm their safety or provide a new survey for lodgement with Land Information New Zealand.

Earth Deformation MonitoringWhether you need to monitor the settlement of a new building or monitor the velocity of an earthflow, we have the experience to assist.
- Accurate levelling of building foundations and settlement pins.
- Repetitive total station measurements to structures and embankments can be adjusted by 'least squares' to prove millimetre movement. Our autolock total station speeds up repeat measurements.
- GPS technology enables us to be completely removed from the site, measuring small movements relative to distant reliable control marks.

Bench Mark EstablishmentWorking from existing 'first order' or Council Benchmarks we can install new benchmarks in safe, stable positions and accurately survey their height in terms of the local Datum.

- Field survey of relevant features - GPS or Autolock Total Station
- Obtaining 'As Built' records from relevant authorities.
- Merging boundary data held by us or using GIS data provided.
- Presentation of CAD files and final top quality plans.
GPS Data CaptureWe have the latest Leica System 530 which enables position fixing within 20mm anywhere - even without a clear 'line of sight' to that point from a survey control point. This latest GPS technology helps us to map large areas. This might be complete detail and contours of a single site, or locating a feature type over a large area such as all the power poles in Tauranga, or the road between Tauranga and Katikati.
GPS is also used for other tasks such as:
- Location of boundaries
- Surveying remote features - coastline, bush, farms
- Control points for aerial photography
- Farm plans - paddock areas
- Stream and river cross sections
- Resource Consents in remote areas
- Height transfer into remote areas for topographical surveys

Encroachment SurveysOur understanding of boundaries and Council rules allows us to carry out surveys to establish compliance with certain rules.
- Buildings over boundaries
- Encroachment into yards and road reserves
- Buildings exceeding height limits
- Structures built over easements
- Marking boundaries for construction of fences

Inshore Hydrographic and High Water SurveysUsing our GPS systems, we can operate independent of land-based survey control to carry out -
- Shoreline monitoring (required by dredging resource consents)
- Quantity surveys for dredging and wharf/marina construction
- Design and siltation surveys for boat ramps, hydro schemes, stormwater control ponds.

Resource ConsentsCouncils are often required to gain Resource Consent for major projects such as drainage, roading and effluent disposal.
Our resources allow us to produce topographical plans quickly and efficiently. With our GPS equipment we can gather bulk data with ease even in the most remote localities.
